Admiral "Bull" Halsey
meets CDR Robert Quackenbush as he enjoys a Coke at the Photo Interpretation
Unit in the South Pacific, 1943. In October l942 Halsey was made Commander
South Pacific Forces and South Pacific Area. With the rank of Admiral, and for
the next 18 months he was in command of that area during the offensive
operations of the U. S. Forces.
Quackenbush is one of the founding fathers of Navy photographic interpretation.

In July 1952, the AF and the PH ratings were merged.
